Antique French Sculpture Decorative Cross with Angels Bénitier en terre
Stunning Antique/Vintage Polychrome Holy Water Font (Bénitier) – Putti, Cherubs & Holy Cross
An exceptionally beautiful and highly decorative religious wall-mounted holy water font (bénitier), perfect for collectors of ecclesiastical art or as a soulful statement piece in a curated interior.
This striking piece features a heavily detailed, three-dimensional scene depicting two expressive putti (cherubs) at the base of the Holy Cross, which is elegantly draped with a flowing white shroud. The figures rest atop an ornate, architectural bracket base adorned with classic scrollwork, acanthus leaf motifs, and soft blue and gold gilt accents. The font bowl at the very bottom retains its classic, decorative shape.
The soft, naturally aged polychrome finish gives this piece immense depth and character, highlighting the fine definition in the angels' wings and the graceful folds of the drapery.
