A 17th century carved oak four poster bed, with later elements, the headboard depicting the legend of St Veronica who was said to have wiped Christ's brow free of blood on the way to his Crucifixion with her veil, which is kept in the Vatican's collection, the carving shows St Veronica and the image of Jesus, framed with carvings of cherubs and foliage, the bold baluster carvings on the base are similarly framed, originally with rope supports, now with fixed panels. this bed is circa 1630 and a truly remarkable piece of English History!
Saint Veronica also known as Berenike was a widow from Jerusalem who lived in the 1st century, traditions relate how Veronica was moved seeing Jesus carrying the cross to Calvary, so she gave him her veil so he could wipe his forehead, Jesus accepted the offer and when he returned the veil, the image of Jesus face was captured on it and this then became known as the veil of Veronica.

Shipping
Our main Depot is located in Montpellier in the South of France. The majority of our stock will be shipped from this location.
For small Items weighing less than 20kg and girth 180cm(W+Hx2), this is around 50x30x40cm box.
Delivery 7-14 days dependant on your location.
You may be subject to customs charges for your package which will be payable on the delivery of your item. Please contact our dedicated team for more information before your purchase.
Bulky items to UK and EU
These items will be shipped with our own transport partners who operate in-between UK-France-Spain. We aim to send these items in 2-4 weeks. We can ship to other EU countries, however the delivery times will be vary.

Bulky Items - Overseas Shipping
We will need your full address to obtain a true shipping cost from our freight forwarding partners.
When all cost have been agreed we will organise packaging, and crating if required. The shipment will then be delivered to our Freight forwarding partners in the UK, and booked on to the next sailing.
Sailings can take between 2-4 weeks depending on your destination.
If you do not have a customs broker to organise customs taxes (you may be liable for taxes on your purchase) and paperwork, our shipping partners can assist with this.
These overseas deliveries can take between 4-8 weeks.
Insurance
For any shipments where you have paid an extra insurance fee, in the unfortunate event of any damage in transit. All damages must be reported to the end destination courier and us straight away in order that we can start the claims process.
Returns
In the unlikely event that you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase please contact us within 3 days of receipt of your purchase to arrange return and refund.
Returns should be in the original package as received
Items must be returned in their "as sold" condition.
The purchaser should communicate with the relevant shipping company that it is a return shipment, and cover all costs.
